Job Description:
A Senior Project Architect with 10 years or more of mixed-use
residential experience is a highly skilled and experienced
professional who takes on a leadership role in architectural
projects. The Senior Project Architect has attained licensure. This
level of PA may work on mid-size to large projects or may work on
more than one project at a time. The projects are more complex in
nature, and a variety of construction types and occupancies.The
Senior Architect will lead teams of various sizes and coordinate
the work effort of the consultant team. They may also be capable of
working on a project, depending on size, without additional team
members, completing all tasks, working along with the PM or capable
of being both the PA and PM on a project. A Senior Project
Architect should have a very strong understanding of codes, the
ability to detail projects, take the project through plan check and
permitting, as well as the Construction Administration process and
be a strong mentor of the junior talent.Qualities:Architectural
Expertise: A Senior Project Architect should possess extensive
architectural knowledge and expertise. They should have a deep
understanding of architectural design principles, construction
techniques, building systems, and codes and regulations. They
should also stay updated with industry trends and
advancements.Leadership and Management: With their experience,
Senior Project Architects should exhibit strong leadership and
management skills. They should be able to lead and mentor project
teams, delegate tasks, manage resources effectively, and ensure
efficient project workflows. They should also possess the ability
to motivate and inspire team members.Communication and
Collaboration: Effective communication and collaboration are
crucial for a Senior Project Architect. They should have excellent
verbal and written communication skills to interact with clients,
consultants, contractors, and team members. They should be skilled
at presenting ideas to stakeholders and fostering collaboration
among multidisciplinary teams.Problem-Solving and Decision-Making:

following.Responsibilities:Schematic Design and Design Development:
Senior Project Architects participate in the SD phase of the
project with the lead designer and lead the development process of
architectural projects. They work closely with clients to
understand their requirements and oversee the production of design
drawings and specifications.Project Coordination: Senior Project
Architects coordinate with internal and external stakeholders
throughout the project lifecycle. They collaborate with engineers,
consultants, and contractors to ensure seamless integration of
various project components. They also oversee the coordination of
project documentation and deliverables.Construction Administration:
Senior Project Architects may be involved in construction
administration tasks. They review construction documents, respond
to requests for information (RFIs), and conduct site visits to
monitor construction progress, quality, and adherence to design
intent. Senior Project Architects may mentor and oversee a Job
Captain conducting Construction Administration tasks.Quality
Control and Assurance: Senior Project Architects are responsible
for ensuring the quality and integrity of project deliverables.
They conduct design reviews, perform quality inspections, and
ensure compliance with building codes, regulations, and industry
standards. They make necessary revisions or adjustments to maintain
design excellence.Budget and Schedule Management: Senior Project
Architects collaborate with the PM in budgeting and schedule
management for projects. They also oversee project schedules to
ensure timely completion of deliverables.Team Leadership and
Mentoring: Senior Project Architects provide leadership and
mentorship to junior architects and project team members. They
guide and support team members, provide constructive feedback, and
foster a collaborative and creative work environment.Continuous
Professional Development: Senior Project Architects actively engage
in professional development activities. They stay updated with
industry trends, new technologies, and best practices. They
participate in continuing education programs, attend conferences,
and contribute to the firm's knowledge-sharing initiatives.
