for our mission goes a long way.Your role as a Sr Manager,
Videoboard Operations and Technical Director:You will be primarily
responsible for overseeing video and control room operations for
Petco Park, including but not limited to, directing and technical
directing multiple videoboards, LED ribbon boards, routing feeds
for ballpark televisions. You will direct both part-time and
full-time crew during live shows, webcasts, and event production,
while collaborating with Production and Entertainment staff to
create engaging and entertaining features.All the responsibilities
we will trust you with:
- Oversees the Video and control room operations for Petco Park.
Manages video operation for Petco Park control room. Serves as the
Technical Director and Director, controlling the videoboards, LED
ribbon boards, and the routing/feeds for the ballpark
televisions.
- Directs and technical directs both part-time and full-time crew
during Padres games, live shows, webcasts, and event production.
Provides guidance to the camera operators, including following game
action, composition and framing of shots. Along with producer and
replay operators, helps determine best replay angles. Provides real
time feedback to video shading of cameras during live
production.
- Operates the Ross Acuity multi-ME video production switcher,
graphics and roll ins, to execute the highest level of technical
production for the San Diego Padres baseball games as well as Petco
Park events. Additionally responsible for the operation of the Ross
Xpression, Dashboard, Evertz Dreamcatcher, Evertz Routing, video
processors, multi-viewers, clips playback, audio and LED stadium
lighting cues in a live production environment.
- Loads and operates Daktronics show control for LED ribbons and
event production. Utilizes creativity to develop features and crowd
engagement "moments" during live production.
- Main conduit for working directly with the Production
department to QC and load all elements for the show into clips
playback. Pre-loads graphics and other scenes in Xpression for game
operation.
- Use Adobe Premier and After Effects to clip and upload to
Padres.com pre-game and features. Works with Production team to
gather assets and edit ballpark player highlight loop. Converts and
customizes videos as needed for control room playback.
- Engages fans through the videoboards and ribbons, enhancing
moments on the field, while using creativity to properly execute
features, promotions, crowd prompts, both team and sponsored
features.
- Leads the setup and training of the social media computer for
activation (ie. Fan polls, social media display, and app
interface).
- Builds temporary broadcast control room at spring training
complex in Peoria, AZ for spring training team produced broadcasts.
Directs and technical directs Spring Training broadcasts, including
communicating with master control on breaks.
- Collaborates with the Director of Game Presentation, Director
of Video Production, Director of Scoreboard Operations, Production
and Entertainment staffs to create entertaining features.
- Assumes other responsibilities as assigned by the Vice
President, Broadcasting & Entertainment.Your areas of knowledge and
expertise that matter most:
- Working knowledge of and ability to edit in Adobe Premier and
After Effects.
- Maintain current technology efforts, while also incorporating
pop culture, social media trends within the game presentation.
- Proficient computer skills including experience with MS Office
products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, etc., and general knowledge
of basic office equipment.
- Possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal,
and effectively work well with others in a collaborative,
respectful manner.
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills with
capacity to handle high volumes of detailed work, multi-task and
manage projects on strict deadlines.
- Maintain professional demeanor with a high degree of
discretion, integrity, and accountability.
- Maintain consistent, punctual, and reliable attendance.You will
be required to meet the following:
- Must be at least 18 years of age by the start of
employment.
- 4-year Bachelor's Degree, or education and experience
equivalence.
- Minimum 4 years previous experience as a Director at a LIVE
sports and entertainment facility or television station.
- Expert knowledge of Ross Acuity switcher, intermediate to
advanced knowledge of Ross Xpression, Evertz Dream Catcher, live
production room equipment. Intermediate experience in Adobe
Creative suite for editing.
- High level of knowledge and experience working in a variety of
file types and conversion codes, as necessary for the execution of
content in the control room.
- Prior history of managing full-time staff and control room
positions.
- Understanding of LIVE sports broadcasting and thorough
knowledge of the game of baseball and the Padres organization.
- Excellent interpersonal & communication skills required, strong
work ethic, a positive attitude and leadership qualities.
Willingness to proactively research potential improvements to
workflow.
- Fluently bilingual in English/Spanish a plus.
- Able to work flexible hours including Padres home/road games
evenings, weekends, special events, holidays and extended hours as
needed.
- Able to travel to Peoria, AZ for Spring Training for
approximately one month.
- Minimum physical requirements: able to travel to and gain
access to various areas of the ballpark for prolonged periods of
time during games and events; able to lift and transport up to 25
pounds.
- As a condition of employment, you must successfully complete
all post-offer, pre-employment requirements, including but not
limited to a background check.Salary and additional
compensation:Per the California pay transparency law, the base
salary range for this full-time position is $75,000 to $85,000. As
a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of
compensation will be contingent upon your work experience,
education, job-related skills and any other factors the San Diego
Padres considers relevant to the hiring decision for this
position.In addition to the base salary, the Padres believe in
