POSITION TITLE: Caseworker-Coach II REPORTS TO: Program Manager, Imperial County FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt TIME COMMITMENT: Full-time (40 hours/ week) Evening and weekend availability required SALARY: $15-16 per hour DOE BENEFITS: Catholic Charities offers a full line of benefits to select from medical, dental, and vision. The agency responds to the needs of the poor in two counties of the Roman Catholic Diocese San Diego and Imperial.The Caseworker Coach 1 is an essential member of the Imperial Valley Homeless Services Team. This team member ensures that participants are served in clean, safe environments and supports them in meeting their basic needs. Motivating, supporting, and guiding the people we serve is a shared responsibility for every member of the team. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Welcomes and orients new participants to shelter or day center as assigned Completes initial intakes with new participants, explains program routines and behavioral expectations Provides a consistent presence in the facility, remaining mindful of residents' physical, emotional and psychological safety Ensures facility is clean, well maintained Supports day center participants and shelter residents in meeting realistic, attainable goals that lead to safe, stable housing. This may include providing directions or coaching in use of public transportation or providing information about applying for public benefits Assists participants in gathering and obtaining documents necessary to achieve their goals and obtain housing Checks in with participants after appointments When applicable, facilitates participants' access to technology used to meet with internal CC and external service providers SUPPORTING RESPONSIBILITIES Fosters a trauma-informed safety-focused culture within CC programs Develops a strong working knowledge of community resources and establishes collaborative working relationships with colleagues within and outside of Catholic Charities Participates in case management, training conferences and team meetings as requested Participates in periodic participant community meetings as requested Keeps management apprised of problems, complaints and/or concerns expressed by participants Documents all contacts with participants in files and Clarity HMIS. May include entering information into CES (coordinated entry housing placement system) Completes and submits all assigned paperwork as needed in a timely and accurate manner. This includes completing a time tracker daily and ensuring it is ready to submit on the last day worked in the pay period QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED: High school diploma and minimum one-year experience serving people experiencing homelessness or serving people living with substance use disorders or mental illness A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn and grow Well-developed listening skills Bilingual Spanish speaking preferred but not required Successful completion of a live scan background clearance Understands and demonstrates the ability to apply a trauma-informed approach to service delivery Must be able to read, write and speak English Strong computer skills and ability to become proficient with database software Valid Driver's License and a clean driving record Ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize Ability to work effectively as a team member and independently Candidates with lived experience are encouraged to apply WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
